I spent Thursday last week at the CMSUK conference and couldn’t help but smile when I thought back to the first conference all those years ago at Oxford University.
This years conference was held at the Gatwick Hilton and had over 190 delegates, a far cry from the handful of us back in the early days.
The conference titled ‘touching a nerve’ kicked off with welcome from the current chair Sam Harris. This was followed by a talk on the impact of psychological trauma by Mandy Rutter from The Validium group.
The programme was then divided in to a catastrophic and non catastrophic stream. Having a vested interest in both, I split my time.
It was interesting to hear how the different views on each market, particularly the impact the Jackson reforms, have had on the industry.
The day finished with the AGM and was followed by a dinner dance with singing waiters and finally the presentation for Case Manager of the year, which was awarded to Cath Townley.
Overall it was a great day and a great evening & I look forward to next year!
